This document explains user access levels present on Historical India.

This document explains the user access levels currently on Historical India. The user access level of users signify their abilities to perform specific actions on the platform. They are added as a measure to develop the user abilities to handle the platform in a productive way. Anyone can use the basic functionalities of Historical India even if they are not logged in (Guest User). Users will have access to more and more functionalities of the platform as they get promoted to higher levels. Most of the user access levels are automated which require certain amount of experience on the site. All user access levels are listed below :

User Access Levels

The levels are listed according to their hierarchy. The focus of user level is also written on every level.

Amateur

Amateur Permissions

Conditions Of Promotion From Amateur Level

  • Articles edited must be more than or equal to 2
  • Account age must be more than or equal to 1 day
  • Mudra earned must be more than or equal to 110

Learner

Learner Permissions

Conditions Of Promotion From Learner Level

  • Articles edited must be more than or equal to 10
  • Articles created must be more than or equal to 2
  • Account age must be more than or equal to 3 days
  • Mudra earned must be more than or equal to 150

Editor

Editor Permissions

  • Can edit articles with protection level-0, level-1 and level-2
  • Can create articles
  • Can create and join projects
  • Can revert edits from view diff page
  • Can add article flags
  • Can add user flags
  • Can add articles and users to watchlist

Conditions Of Promotion From Editor Level

  • Articles edited must be more than or equal to 100
  • Significant edits (edits with more than 2500 characters) should be more than or equal to 10
  • Articles created must be more than or equal to 10
  • Account age must be more than or equal to 10 days
  • Mudra earned must be more than or equal to 650

Author

Author Permissions

  • Can edit articles with protection level-0, level-1 and level-2
  • Can create articles
  • Can create and join projects
  • Can revert edits from view diff page
  • Can add article flags
  • Can add user flags
  • Can add articles and users to watchlist

Conditions Of Promotion From Author Level

  • Articles edited must be more than or equal to 200
  • Significant edits (edits with more than 2500 characters) should be more than or equal to 30
  • Articles created must be more than or equal to 30
  • Article flags added must be more than or equal to 10
  • Account age must be more than or equal to 30 days
  • Mudra earned must be more than or equal to 1300

Contributor

Contributor Permissions

  • Can edit articles with protection level-0, level-1, level-2 and level-3
  • Can create articles
  • Can create and join projects
  • Can revert edits from view diff page
  • Can add article flags
  • Can add user flags
  • Can add articles and users to watchlist

Conditions Of Promotion From Contributor Level

  • Articles edited must be more than or equal to 300
  • Significant edits (edits with more than 2500 characters) should be more than or equal to 50
  • Articles created must be more than or equal to 40
  • Article flags added must be more than or equal to 100
  • User flags added must be more than or equal to 10
  • Account age must be more than or equal to 60 days
  • Mudra earned must be more than or equal to 2000

Reviewer

Reviewer Permissions

  • Can edit articles with protection level-0, level-1, level-2 and level-3
  • Can create articles
  • Can create and join projects
  • Can revert edits from view diff page
  • Can add article flags
  • Can add user flags
  • Can add articles and users to watchlist
  • Can moderate articles

Conditions Of Promotion From Reviewer Level

  • Articles edited must be more than or equal to 500
  • Significant edits (edits with more than 2500 characters) should be more than or equal to 100
  • Articles created must be more than or equal to 50
  • Articles moderated must be more than or equal to 20
  • Article flags added must be more than or equal to 150
  • User flags added must be more than or equal to 100
  • Account age must be more than or equal to 100 days
  • Mudra earned must be more than or equal to 3000

Expert

Expert Permissions

  • Can edit articles with protection level-0, level-1, level-2, level-3 and level-4
  • Can create articles
  • Can create and join projects
  • Can revert edits from view diff page
  • Can add article flags
  • Can add user flags
  • Can add articles and users to watchlist
  • Can moderate articles

Conditions Of Promotion From Expert Level

  • Articles edited must be more than or equal to 1000
  • Significant edits (edits with more than 2500 characters) should be more than or equal to 250
  • Articles created must be more than or equal to 100
  • Articles moderated must be more than or equal to 100
  • Article flags added must be more than or equal to 500
  • User flags added must be more than or equal to 500
  • Account age must be more than or equal to 200 days
  • Mudra earned must be more than or equal to 6000
  • Manual approval from current Guide team

Promotion from Expert level to Pioneer level requires manual approval from current guide level team. It usually includes rigorous interview sessions with the candidate. User is promoted once the consensus is reached among guide level team.

Pioneer

Pioneer Permissions

  • Can edit articles with protection level-0, level-1, level-2, level-3 and level-4
  • Can create articles
  • Can create and join projects
  • Can revert edits from view diff page
  • Can add article flags
  • Can add user flags
  • Can add articles and users to watchlist
  • Can moderate articles
  • Can create policy/reference documentation
  • Can edit policy/reference documentation

Conditions Of Promotion From Pioneer Level

  • Articles edited must be more than or equal to 2000
  • Significant edits (edits with more than 2500 characters) should be more than or equal to 500
  • Articles created must be more than or equal to 200
  • Articles moderated must be more than or equal to 500
  • Article flags added must be more than or equal to 1000
  • User flags added must be more than or equal to 1000
  • Account age must be more than or equal to 365 days
  • Mudra earned must be more than or equal to 12000
  • Manual approval from current Guide team and technical team

Promotion from Pioneer level to Guide level requires manual approval from current guide level team as well as technical team. This process is more complicated. Also, discussions take place about whether a user should be promoted to pioneer level. User is promoted once the consensus is reached among guide level team and technical team.

  • Can add article flags
  • Can add user flags
  • Can add articles and users to watchlist

  • Can edit policy/reference documentation
  • Can disable/enable user accounts for prevention of vandalism

Note : A few initial users have been promoted manually to higher levels in order to maintain the site.
