What Are Interlinks?
Interlinking is one of the major features on Historical India that binds articles together and create an interconnected web of articles within website. Interlinks are HTML hyperlinks which connect different articles together. Interlinks are important because they increase User's understanding about the subject by providing instant and handy pathways to information.
Types Of Interlinks
Historical India has 4 different types of Interlinks according to their properties. These types help reader and editor to understand type of information it has. Different types of hyperlinks have different conditions to be classified in one of the Interlink types.
Blue Link
Blue Link is considered as a valid link, which points to one of the pages on Historical India. There are different conditions on article page and other pages such as projects, discussions, issues etc. to be classified as a Blue Link.
- On Article Page
- On article page, a hyperlink qualifies as a Blue Link if it points to a valid and approved article page on Historical India.
- On Other Pages
- On pages other than article page, a hyperlink is qualified as a Blue Link if it points to any valid page on Historical India.
Redlink
Redlink is a link which points to Historical India domain (https://historicalindia.org) but does not point to valid article within webisite. Redlinks are present only on article pages. Pages other than article page does not have redlinks. Redlinks are also considered as a driving force for editors as Redlinks encourage them to write articles on topics which are not covered on website.
- On Article Page
- On article page, a hyperlink qualifies as a Redlink if it points to an article page which does not exist on Historical India.
- On Other Pages
- On pages other than article page, Redlinks do not exist.
Yellow Link
Yellow Link is a link which points to a rejected article on Historical India. The conditions to be classified as an Yellow Link are same on all pages.
External Link
External Link is a link which points to domains other than Historical India (https://historicalindia.org). The conditions to be classified as an External Link are same on all pages.
Dealing With Interlinks
Clean Up
Since Blue Links are considered as valid Interlinks, only RedLinks and External Links on a page need regular cleanup. There are few things you can do to cleanup the Interlinks.
- Redlink : Redlinks are good since they are considered as a driving force for editors as Redlinks encourage them to write articles on topics which are not covered on website. You can cleanup the Redlinks on Historical India in one of the following ways -
- You can create an article on the topic discussed in Redlink by clicking it on article page where the Redlink is placed. Redlink will be automatically updated when the existing article is edited next time.
- You can remove the redlink only if you think that link topic is irrelevant to Historical India.
- Yellow Link : You can cleanup the Yellow Links on Historical India in one of the following ways -
- You can replace the link with article that is valid and not rejected.
