Indian Independence Act 1947

The Indian Independence Act 1947 is an act of Parliament of the United Kingdom. The act partitioned British India and created two new independent dominions, India and Pakistan. Pakistan was split into West Pakistan and East Pakistan, later Bangladesh. The act came into effect from 15th August 1947.
